Gina Gershon's standout performances in films including "Bound," "Palmetto," "Showgirls," "The Insider," and "Face/Off," have established her as a strong female screen presence. She has also done numerous work in television including starring in the series "Snoops," doing guest spots on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Crossing Jordan," "The Practice," "Ellen," and a recurring role on "Melrose Place." Less well known is that she is an accomplished stage actress and one of the founding members of the New York based theater group, "Naked Angels." As you will see in her interview, she is passionate about her craft.
Gina began acting while studying at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. In New York, she studied drama at the Circle in the Square Theater School with teachers such as writer-director David Mamet and Sandra Seacat whose "dream-work" she speaks about here. Sandra started out as a disciple of Lee Strasberg but soon included in her work techniques from the Human Potential Movement. I studied with Sandra for several years and found her to be an especially innovative and perceptive teacher.
I interviewed Gina on the porch of INNER OBJECT producer J.F. Lawton's home.
